ABSTRACT We study two quick-service restaurant (QSR) chains based on regional ethnic foods that were launched in China and India. The products these QSR ventures offered had hitherto been sold by fragmented street vendors who typically operated single outlets. Inspired the successful business models of international brands, entrepreneurs developed to popularize their chosen multiple new regions grew organizations 1,400 300 outlets India, respectively. build recently coined concept ‘secondary’ model innovation (SBMI), which is inter-organizational learning, break down its constituents into creative imitative, specify mechanisms through it achieved, propose a specific case more general construct imitation.
